Certified for an innovative future

05.07.2019 -

If you want to evolve, you sometimes have to leave the beaten path and try something new. Even if ultimately your goal stays the same. inTime did just that in the domain of quality management. After years of sourcing all its auditing and certification services from DEKRA, the German logistics company decided to start afresh and build a relationship with a different audit firm. Its choice fell on TÜV Süd.

The new partner has already analyzed the processes and structures at inTime’s sites in Isernhagen, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hagen. “We really wanted a different perspective in taking our quality, environment and energy management to the next level,” explained Holger Siegmann, Head of Quality Management. “We’re not always easy to understand,” he added with a wink. “That’s why we are thrilled to have a partner like TÜV Süd and its auditing team, who will help us evolve and, even more importantly, will point out untapped potential,” explained Vera Rietmann, an employee in the Quality Management department at inTime.

The express logistics provider, together with its audit partner, is taking a progressive approach to adopting key DIN ISO standards. For example, the basic framework required by ISO 9001:2015 for quality management has long undergirded the day-to-day work routines at inTime – from health and safety to employee communications on the intranet to the development of Cargosoft, inTime’s own transport management system.

Regarding energy efficiency (ISO 50001), inTime has been educating employees about energy conservation in addition to simply reading meters and analyzing consumption data. Recertification audits take place every three years. Monitoring audits are conducted annually. inTime has set ambitious goals for itself in analyzing and pursuing savings opportunities. One example: constructing new buildings to be energy-efficient. “We work with partners who read our meters, advise us on resource pooling or introduce us to innovative approaches in solar power and other areas,” continued Holger Siegmann.

The first TÜV Süd audit was quite informative. inTime’s certifications were renewed. Now, the logistics company has to evaluate the data it has gathered and communicate the results throughout its organization – with help from its functional departments and internal influencers.
