CO2-Footprint

05.12.2018 - As a logistics company, we are aware of our great responsibility for our planet and our environment. Our aim: Green Logistics for a sustainable improvement of the CO2 balance. The environmental certification, 10 years ago according to ISO 14001, was only the beginning. For many years, we compensate the CO2 emissions of our fleet and invest in climate protection projects - at no extra costs for our customers.

Also for the year 2017, we have compensated our CO2 emissions by supporting the Forest Carbon Group, by an investment in the “Brazil Nut Rainforest” project in Peru. In this Pacific region, valuable natural rainforests are protected from destruction on an area with the size of Germany. About 400 families benefit from the preservation of this forest ecosystem, because it is the basic requirement for the harvest of Brazil nuts and thus the securing of their income. The families are actively involved in the project work and are e.g. trained in sustainable forest management and harvesting techniques for Brazil nuts. A modern nut processing plant has been built, so the participating farmers now have access to international markets. Additional jobs in forest management and nut processing are created. That is the best way to also support the local people in realizing that they have to protect their forests against illegal wood-degrading, slash-fire or the conversion into agricultural land. In addition to this important project, we also invest internally in environmentally friendly measures, such as driver trainings with a focus on safety and environmental awareness, optimized tour management, efficient route planning through the use of our IT tools and a modern vehicle fleet, which also includes electric vehicles.
